Web Application Process

Along with many IT project practices, onemanwebdesign is no different in the execution of planning, building and launching a web application.

Personally, I've separated the process into three stages :

Typical web applications development process

STAGE 1 - PLANNING

This stage is quite fluid - me (the developer) and you (the client) during initial meetings discuss the project overall, including the website's objective, its target audience, any business processes the application will perform, timeframes, development and design considerations along with project and running costs. We then agree a formal project agreement.

We consider each of the ' four principles ' to ensure all bases are at least considered. With Visio skills, I will produce process/site map/architecture/business flow drawings to aide the understanding of the web app. Formal conceptual designs will also be produced using the latest graphics tools. Consideration on launch and longer-term maintenance will also be discussed and planned, and is integral to any web application.

STAGE 2 - Main Website Build

This stage involves the designing and building of the application, the database, optimisation and following compliance aspects.  Testing is carried out throughout along with UAT to ensure the site meets its target audience requirements.

Stage 3 - Post Launch

The planning for the launch would be executed. Longer term maintenance considerations are also put into place.
